Sony RDR-GX257 DVD Recorder and Player Component

This Sony DVD Recorder has no TV tuner. It is designed to record directly off the Output from your Cable-TV or Satellite-TV receiver. It can also be used to dub recordings from other components onto various DVD recordable Disc formats. It is not ready for HDTV as this DVD recorder and player records and plays in 480i and 480p modes. An HDMI output, however, enables the RDR-GX257 to play DVDs to your widescreen HDTV delivering sharp imagery on screens optimized for 1080 resolutions, in an Upconversion mode.
